Bruno A. Dogg and Bowser T. Houn' were the very real pets of author Stephen Boyd Hughes.  The three of them spent many happy hours together while living in the town of Loretto in Lawrence County, Tennessee.  In the pages of his books Mr. Hughes reminds us of the fun a boy can have with nothing but open country, his dogs and a lot of imagination.
